Bradenton woman sentenced to life in prison for raping boy

MANATEE — A 31-year-old Bradenton woman was sentenced to life in prison Thursday after she was found guilty of sexually assaulting a 5-year-old boy.

Tabatha Crawford was found guilty of capital sexual battery and sexual performance by a child, according to a news release from the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office.

Crawford, who was convicted by a Manatee County jury, will not be eligible for parole.

Crawford was arrested in December 2009 after investigators found a photograph on her computer showing the assault. Authorities had been investigating her husband on similar charges when they found the image, according to the sheriff’s office.

A forensic examiner with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement identified Tabatha Crawford as the woman in the photograph based on her face and identifying marks, according to the sheriff’s office.
