Fire at assisted living facility in Bradenton

MANATEE -- A fire in the northwest wing of Emeritus at College Park was put out Wednesday afternoon, resulting in no injuries or medical treatment to those inside, Cedar Hammock Fire Rescue reports.

Rescue workers arrived at the assisted living facility, 5612 26th St. W., within four minutes of the alarm and found the staff had evacuated the structure, a media release said.

The fire was held in check by a single sprinkler head that helped keep the damage to a minimum, according to the release, and the remainder of the fire was quickly put out by fire crews.

The facility suffered an estimated $25,000 worth of fire, smoke and water damage, according to officials.
