Boy, 14, beaten, robbed in Bradenton

MANATEE — A 14-year-old boy told deputies he was beaten and robbed late Monday by two men he had earlier tried to direct to a location where they could buy marijuana, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.

The suspects told the victim they were from Chicago and not familiar with the area so he "decided to be a nice guy and show them where to go," a news release states.

About 9:45 p.m., the boy led them to the 7-Eleven store at 3500 53rd Ave. W., telling them he would give them directions but would not take them any further.

The victim began returning home and as he approached the Centre Court Apartments, at the intersection of 52nd Drive West and 42nd Street West, the two suspects came up from behind, struck him in the back of the head and forced him to the ground, according to the sheriff's office.

They went through his pockets and took his cell phone and digital music player.

The suspects fled east on 52nd Drive West, according to the report.
