MANATEE -- A robbery suspect fled the scene without getting anything after his victim punched him in the face at a motel along Tamiami Trail, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.
At about 11 p.m. Sunday, the 35-year-old victim left the motel's pool in the 7200 block of N. Tamiami and was walking back to his room when he heard someone behind him, according to the sheriff's report. The suspect approached and said, “You better have money or you’re going to get a beat down.”
The victim turned around and hit the suspect in the face, the report stated. The suspect, age 25 to 30, fell back against a pole and then fled northbound through the breezeway, without getting anything.
The victim only sustained a small scratch on this right knuckle from hitting the suspect, who is being sought on charges of attempted strong arm robbery, detectives said.
