Manatee man charged in stabbing

MANATEE — A 39-year-old man was stabbed late Friday during a round of "mutual combat" with another man described as a "long time friend," according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.

The victim and Devin Taylor, 23, had been drinking at Taylor's residence in the 1400 block of Hardin Avenue, near Sarasota Bradenton International Airport, when at about 10:30 p.m. they got into a fight. During the altercation, the older man was stabbed, according to a news release.

When deputies cuffed Taylor, he was holding a bag of marijuana in his hands, according to the sheriff's office. Taylor admitted to stabbing the man, deputies said.

The victim was flown to Bayfront Medical Center in St. Petersburg, and his condition was unknown.

Taylor was being held without bond at the Manatee County jail on charges of use of a dangerous weapon and marijuana possession.
