Gunshot at Bradenton apartments reported a day late

MANATEE — It took about 23 hours until a gunshot heard at Manatee Woods Apartment Complex was reported to the sheriff’s office, according to a media release.

At about 4 p.m. Thursday a resident in the 400 block of 34th Avenue Drive East told an employee at the front desk that she heard a gunshot the day before coming from the apartments at the back of the complex, the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office reports.

The employee walked over to the spot and saw a bullet hole in the window of an apartment, a media release said, he then called deputies who attempted to make contact with the person inside.

When deputies got no response, they entered the apartment and found a 30-year-old man in the bathroom. Deputies questioned him about the bullet found lodged in his kitchen wall a few feet from the window, but the man was “vague and unhelpful,” according to the report.

In talking to other neighbors, deputies discovered several other residents heard the shot fired at about 3 p.m. Wednesday, but none of them reported it, the release said.

No injuries have been linked to this shooting.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the sheriff’s office (941) 747-3011 or Crime Stoppers at 1-(866) 634-8477.
