Armed robbery suspect eludes Manatee deputies

MANATEE -- An armed robbery suspect eluded capture after he led deputies on a short pursuit, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.

The suspect was being sought after he and another man allegedly robbed two men of money and a small amount of marijuana about 8:10 p.m. outside a residence in the 1600 block of 48th Terrace West, Bradenton. The victims had gone there to sell marijuana to a "friend," according to a news release.

The suspects fled from the location to an awaiting vehicle behind the Lifestyle gym at 4700 14th St. W.

About an hour later, one of the suspects returned to the area to return the victims' car keys. Deputies spotted a vehicle carrying one of the suspects and a traffic stop was made in the 4500 block of 26th Street West. The vehicle fled, and deputies lost sight until they relocated it parked in the 4900 block of 24th Street West with the doors open and the engine still running, according to the sheriff's office.

The suspect was not located.
