Manatee sheriff's deputies charge man with trying to sell stolen saddle

MANATEE -- A 35-year-old man was arrested on a charge of trying to sell a horse saddle that had been reported stolen, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.

The item, which is considered unique, was taken from a horse trailer on Russ Road in June 2010.

On Wednesday, Jason C. Durrance tried to sell the saddle but was told by witnesses to return it to the proper owner, which he did not, according to the sheriff's office.

Authorities later obtained an arrest warrant for Durrance and earlier today, they executed a search warrant at his residence on Clay Gully Road. The saddle was not located and Durrance was arrested, according to a news release.
