MANATEE -- A man was injured by two muggers early Monday, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.
The man was walking from a payphone at a shopping plaza in the 1200 block of Whitfield Avenue when he was confronted by two assailants, "who told him to give up his stuff," a news release states.
The victim refused and the suspects knocked him to the ground, with one going through his pockets and the other cutting him with a box cutter, according to the sheriff's office.
The suspects got away with $280 in cash and prescription medications, and the victim went home and fell asleep.
Later on Monday, the victim had his father take him to Lakewood Ranch Medical Center for treatment, according to the report.
On Tuesday, the victim reported the attack to the sheriff's office. He had several cuts on both arms and his neck, according to the sheriff's office.
