MANATEE -- An employee of a Bradenton boating company was arrested and charged with stealing a trailer and scrap metal from the business, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies say Jackie Parker III, 30, had been working for Boaters Surplus and Supply Co., 6105 31st St. E., for about three weeks when about 7 a.m. Monday he arrived before the business opened, cut the lock off the front gate and hooked his vehicle to a trailer filled with scrap metal, according to a news release.

He then drove to Tremarco, a recycling business at 4515 15th St. E., and sold the scrap for $180. Parker then parked the trailer at a friend's home and reported to work as if nothing had happened.

Deputies followed several leads, resulting in Parker's arrest. Investigators say the the driver's license number and fingerprint on the scrap ticket matched Parker, according to the report.

Parker was being held at the Manatee County jail on burglary, theft and other charges. His bonds totaled $16,620.
