Man dies in early morning rollover crash in Myakka

MYAKKA -- Three persons were ejected in a single-vehicle rollover crash, which killed one of the occupants about 3:20 a.m. today, the Florida Highway Patrol reports.

The 1999 Acura was approaching a curve on State Road 70 west of Saddlebag Trail. when the car began to travel off the road. The driver attempted to steer back onto the road, when the vehicle began to rotate in a counter-clockwise manner.

The driver lost complete control of the vehicle, went off the north side of the road and entered a ditch, overturning three times and ejecting the occupants, the FHP report said.

Due to the fact that all three persons were ejected, investigators have been unable to determine who was driving.

One of the injured men was transported to Bayfront Medical Center. The other person who survived the crash had minor injuries.

The man who was killed was identified as Fidel Zavala, 33, of Myakka City.

The crash remains under investigation to determine who was driving. Charges are pending, according to the FHP.
