Bradenton man charged with assaulting, robbing friend

MANATEE — A 28-year-old man was arrested Tuesday and accused of robbing a man at gunpoint and assaulting him, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.

The victim said Damian Flores at 6:36 p.m. came to his home in the 800 block of 27th Street Circle East and asked for him. When the victim came to the door, Flores robbed the man with a black semi-automatic weapon and grabbed him by the throat, according to an arrest report.

Flores then slammed the victim against a wall and placed the muzzle of gun in his left eye socket, the report said. The victim handed over $180, loose change and a gold necklace to Flores after he was told to empty his pockets, the report states.

Flores then left in a silver car. Flores admitted to being at the victim’s home but denies robbing him with a firearm or beating him, according to the report.

A witness, who is the victim’s ex-girlfriend and Flores’s current girlfriend, was at the victim’s home during the incident, the report said. The witness said she heard the two men argue about money.

Flores is currently in Manatee County jail on bonds totaling $52,750. He has been charged with robbery with a firearm, possession of cannabis, possession of Oxycodone, simple battery, possession of a weapon or ammunition by a convicted felon, possession of crack cocaine, possession of a controlled substance, engaging in a criminal offense with a weapon and tampering with a witness.
