Bradenton man slightly hurt in robbery in front of his home

MANATEE — A 63-year-old man was slightly injured when he was robbed in front of his home early today, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.

The man, who lives in the 3300 block of 31st Street West, Bradenton, told deputies he had gone outside to get some air about 12:45 a.m. when he was approached by a man he had seen walking around some of his neighbor's equipment. The suspect asked for a cigarette and then attempted to stab or punch the victim, according to a news release.

The suspect then walked behind the victim, used an unknown object to scratch his neck and took the victim's wallet, $20 or $30 and two Methadone pills that were in his front pocket. The suspect then fled south, according to the sheriff's office.

Deputies said the man suffered a 2-inch scratch on his neck.
