Feds take 3 into custody, seize property from Manatee stash house

MANATEE -- Federal immigration agents raided a residence and arrested several people Wednesday evening, according to the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office.

Manatee County Sheriff’s Office Gang Unit and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement located 30-year-old Santos Portillo, who was wanted on a federal warrant, at a residence in the 1100 block of 57th Avenue East.

Investigators confiscated multiple electronic items, including televisions, computers, and GPS systems; construction equipment; and a .22-caliber rifle, as well as shotgun ammunition.

Investigators believe the residence was used as “stash” house for stolen goods.

A sheriff’s office detective interviewed Portillo who said he purchased the items off of Craiglist and planned to repair them before re-selling the items for profit.

Agents took Portillo, 29-year-old Marcos Castellanos-Lopez and 30-year-old Mauricio Archenta-Cruz into custody. Archenta-Cruz had tattoos indicating he is a member of the MS-13 street gang.

The property was also seized.
