Arrest warrant issued for former Bucs player

TAMPA — A Hillsborough judge issued an arrest warrant Monday for former Bucs guard Arron Sears after he failed to show up for a court hearing.

Sears, 26, was to be arraigned on a charge of battery on a law enforcement officer. He had been released from jail last month on $2,000 bail.

Sears, a second-round pick in 2007, was named to the all-rookie team and started 31 games over his first two seasons. He suffered an undisclosed psychological problem before the 2009 season and was later placed on the non-football related illness list.

He returned to workouts near the end of last season but was released in April.
