Teen bitten by neighbor's dog

MANATEE — A 15-year-old boy was recovering at Manatee Memorial Hospital after he was bitten on the leg by a neighbor’s pit-bull, Rocky, witnesses said.

The incident happened in the 2000 block of 48th Avenue West at about 4:10 p.m. Thursday, although the exact location of the incident is in dispute.

The owner of the dog, Jesus Andino, said the boy came to his home, opened the door, causing the dog to get scared and react. Witnesses say that dog got loose because the front door of the home was left open and bit the teenager as he was crossing the street.

“I couldn’t even look at my son,” said Ismael Rivera, the victim’s father, who was visibly upset about the incident.

According to Rivera his son was transported to Manatee Memorial Hospital with a gash on in his leg. Rocky was taken away by Manatee County Animal Services and is in quarantine.
