Man arrested for beating people with bat in Bradenton

BRADENTON -- A 37-year-old man remains in jail after he smashed his ex-girlfriend’s car in traffic using a baseball bat and beat the male occupants, according to a Bradenton Police Department arrest report.

Clifford B. Wallace on Saturday reportedly followed the woman from her new boyfriend’s house and waited until she was near 24th Street East and Manatee Avenue East when he pulled in front of the woman’s white 1993 Toyota Celica and exited clutching an aluminum baseball bat.

Wallace reportedly smashed out the rear side window and reached in to unlock the door. He attempted to remove two men from the car and then began to hit them with the bat in his hand.

The men received non-life threatening injuries and were later cleared on the scene by paramedics, according to police

Wallace violated a domestic violence injunction placed against him by the woman earlier this month, according to police.

He faces two counts of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, one count of burglary and criminal mischief. His bail is set at $76,000.
