Man arrested for taking city of Bradenton’s plants

BRADENTON -- A 45-year-old man was arrested for allegedly digging up plants belonging to the city and taking them to replant at his friend’s home, according to a Bradenton Police Department arrest report.

An officer watched Favian Flores ride his bicycle while carrying three plants in the 800 block of Martin Luther King Avenue East.

A witness flagged down officers, telling them they had witnessed him take the plants out of the ground. They were valued at $40 each, according to the report.

When the plants were returned, nine others were discovered missing and Flores refused to tell authorities where they were at, the report states.

As of Monday, Flores remained in jail on a charge of petit theft, with bond set at $120.
