Palmetto man charged with hitting, robbing ex-girlfriend

MANATEE -- A 32-year-old man was arrested after allegedly punched his ex-girlfriend in the mouth and stole her cell phone, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.

The woman was standing in a parking lot in the 2300 block of U.S. 41 North, Palmetto, about 6:45 p.m. Sunday when Solomon Starling approached and punched her in the mouth. The woman told a friend to call police, and as she went to get her own cell phone, Solomon snatched it out of her hand and fled, according to a sheriff's office.

About 1 a.m. this morning, a detective located Solomon at his residence in Palmetto and arrested him. He was being held at the Manatee County jail without bond charges of robbery and battery.
