Manatee substitute teacher arrested on drug charge

BRADENTON — A substitute teacher was arrested last week on a possession of a controlled substance charge.

Heather Bergeron, 27, of Bradenton, was being arrested for a traffic-related violation when a Manatee County Sheriff’s Office deputy found a prescription pill, two syringes and a metal spoon with a white burnt substance in her purse, according to a sheriff’s report.

The report states Bergeron is employed by the Manatee County School Board.

She was released from jail Sunday after posting bonds totaling $2,120 on the drug and traffic charges.
