MANATEE — A woman told investigators she was raped by two men who had forced her off the road as she drove in East Manatee early this morning, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.
The woman had left her work in Sarasota and was driving north on Morgan Johnson Road to her boyfriend's house about 3:30 a.m. when another car pulled up alongside of her and forced off the road. The woman got out of the vehicle and was approached by two men, according to a news release.
The men apologized for running her off the road and then began making sexual advances. When the woman rebuffed them, one of the suspects grabbed her. She began to scream, but the man choked her, according to the sheriff's office.
The men then raped her, according to the sheriff's office. The suspects then left in their car, described as a dark-colored Honda Accord or Civic.
Almost four hour later, at 7:20 a.m., a Bradenton police officer found the woman parked at Glazier-Gates Park in Bradenton. She told him what had happened, and he helped her go to Manatee Memorial Hospital.
The attackers were described as being between 25 and 30 years old. One had braided hair and the other one was wearing a hat, according to the news release.
