Manatee man accused of shooting at neighbor over bicycle

MANATEE — A Manatee County man was arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a firearm after he fired a pistol at a neighbor early Sunday, according to the sheriff's office.

Dominique Glover, 19, of the 900 block of 38th Terrace East, which is near Southeast High School, pointed a pistol and fired at a neighbor who lives a few doors east of him after the neighbor confronted Glover about stealing a bike, a sheriff’s report states.

The incident began when the victim was driving home on 37th Avenue East and saw Glover riding his son’s bike at 1 a.m., the report states.

The victim turned around and stopped Glover, who got off the bike and ran to a nearby residence.

When the victim was loading the bike into his vehicle, he saw Glover walk back out in the street with the pistol and point the firearm at him.

The victim reported he saw the muzzle flash and heard a bang, but Glover immediately began trying to fix it, the report states.

The report isn’t clear if a bullet actually exited from the pistol. Deputies on duty Sunday night also could not verify if the gun actually fired or not.

Two deputies later found Glover hiding in the back bedroom of a nearby home. Glover admitted to stealing the bike, but denied shooting at the victim.
