MANATEE – Investigators raided a Palmetto man’s home this morning and found about 1,000 images of child pornography, including some images of children as young as 4 years old, according to the Florida Attorney General’s Office.
Police said they also are investigating whether the images depict local children.
Members of the attorney general’s CyberCrime Task Force entered the home of Brian Perry, 51, this morning, and brought him out in handcuffs at about 10 a.m., after seizing his computer, a thumb drive and several CDs, according to the report.
A Bradenton police detective began investigating Perry, who lives at 2805 49th St. E., after tracing child pornography found on the Internet back to his home, east of U.S. 41.
Investigators will continue to search the items seized from Perry’s home for more child pornography, according to the report.
Perry has been charged with 20 counts of possession of child pornography and two counts of promotion of child pornography, the attorney general’s office reported.
Members of the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office, Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement also assisted in the raid.
Investigators brought Perry from his home in handcuffs and placed him a Bradenton police car, before taking him to the Manatee County jail. A placard hanging above his porch reads, “Brian Perry Painting, Inc.” A work truck in his carport also identified Perry as a painting contractor.
