Kidnapping suspect arrested in Bradenton

MANATEE -- A 24-year-old man wanted for kidnapping in the disappearance earlier this week of a former girlfriend was arrested this afternoon, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.

Leonides Barragn-Contreras was arrested without incident in Bradenton, according to a news release.

Barragan-Contreras is accused of abducting Maria Iscoa early Monday morning at her Bradenton residence. Iscoa was able to free herself later in the day and she returned home unharmed.

Iscoa had last week filed for a protective order against Barragan-Contreras after she says he threatened to kill her.

The investigation continues and additional charges are possible, according to the sheriff's office.
