Missing Manatee woman returns home safely

MANATEE — Authorities late this afternoon located a woman who’d been missing since early this morning.

Manatee County sheriff’s detectives found Maria Isoca, 31, at her home in the 600 block of 60th Avenue East in good health, according to sheriff’s spokesman Dave Bristow.

Iscoa’s babysitter told deputies that at about 1:40 a.m., Iscoa returned to her residence and was confronted by a man in the driveway. Investigators believe the man was her former boyfriend Leonides Barragan-Contreras, 24.

The couple left in her vehicle, according to the sheriff's office.

Investigators were interviewing Iscoa to determine what exactly happened, said sheriff's spokesman Dave Bristow.

Court papers show Isoca had recently been granted a temporary dating violence injunction against Barragan-Contrares and had also recently moved here from Miami with two minor children, a son and a daughter.

Detectives say she fled here to get away from Barragan-Contreras because he had threatened to kill her in Miami.

Bristow said detectives were still looking for Barragan-Contreras.

Anyone with information on this case can call the sheriff’s office at (941) 747-3011, or Crime Stoppers at (866) 634-TIPS.
