Sarasota man busted on drug trafficking charges

SARASOTA - The Bradenton Police Department participated in a drug investigation that culminated Thursday with the arrest of a 27-year-old man on drug trafficking charges, according to the Sarasota County Sheriff's Office.

Salvado Miguel Mendez of Sarasota is charged with three counts of cocaine trafficking, one count of sale of cocaine and one count of possession of cannabis.

A two-month undercover investigation by detectives with the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office, the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration and the Bradenton Police Department, wrapped up with a drug transaction in the 5300 block of Fruitville Road, Sarasota, about 1 p.m. Thursday, according to reports.

Detectives seized more than 173 grams of cocaine from the suspect, and during a search of his residence investigators found another 77 grams of cocaine and 69 grams of cannabis, according to a news release.

Mendez was being held without bond at the Sarasota County jail.
