Bradenton man arrested after reportedly beating woman and children

MANATEE — A 46-year-old Bradenton man was arrested after he allegedly beat a woman and her children numerous times — sometimes breaking bones, according to a Manatee County Sheriff’s Office arrest report.

Evans B. Jackman, of Bradenton, was arrested at Manatee School of the Arts after a child abuse complaint was made. When questioned by deputies, Jackman said he is strict man with high standards but denied abusing anyone, according to the report.

The woman told deputies she has been in an abusive relationship with Jackman since 2004. She’s been to the hospital numerous times and in the past he injuries have included a broken nose and fractured ribs, according to the report.

Her children told investigators they have been struck several times leaving bruising on their bodies.

As of Friday night, Jackman remained in jail on a $9,500 bond, according to Manatee County Jail Web site.
