Man hurt in Manatee home invasion

MANATEE — A 28-year-old man was injured during a home invasion at his Manatee residence early this morning, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.

About 12:50 a.m., three or four masked intruders wearing all black knocked on the victim's front door in the 2300 block of 52nd Avenue Drive West. As he was opening it, the suspects forced their way inside and demanded his money and medications, according to a news release.

At one point, the victim was struck in the head with an unknown firearm, the sheriff's office said.

The suspects took some of the victim's property and fled in an unknown direction, according to the release.
