2 face charges they broke into E. Manatee jewelry store

MANATEE -- Two Miami men face charges that they broke into an East Manatee jewelry store and stole more than $40,000 in items, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.

The video security system at Bartlett's Jewelers, 7317 52nd Place E., captured Lazaro Mayor Damaso, 57, and Soren Moreda, 33, break into the store about 8 p.m. Sunday, force open several display cases and load jewelry into blue shopping bags, according to a news release.

The pair were arrested about three hours later while trying to break into a store in Naples, according to the sheriff's office. Naples Police Department investigators recovered the jewelry taken from Bartlett's.
