Sheriff's office: 14 marijuana plants discovered in Palmetto

MANATEE - A Manatee County worker discovered 14 potted marijuana plants growing in a wooded area known as Old Mill Preserve in Palmetto.

The worker from the county's drainage unit was off duty Saturday and attempting to trap hogs when he walked upon an area surrounded by four sheets of plywood with approximately 14 potted marijuana plants which were at various stages of growth, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.

The area where the plants were found is at 70th Terrace East and 161st Street East, commonly known as Old Mill Preserve, the report adds.

The worker called the sheriff's office and various units responded to the scene to photograph the area and collect evidence.
