Deputies: Man, woman caught breaking into cars in Palmetto

MANATEE - A man and woman were arrested early this morning, after resident of a Palmetto neighborhood saw them trying to break into several vehicles, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.

About 2:25 a.m., a resident saw Julie Baldwin, 24, dropped off by someone in a black vehicle and walking through the Northwood Park subdivision pulling on the door handles of vehicles. The vehicle was following her with the headlights off, according to the sheriff's office.

The witness called the sheriff's office and deputies responded. The vehicle left the area before they arrived, but it was spotted in the adjacent Foster's Creek subdivision. The vehicle was stopped and Baldwin and Justin Pederson, 30, were located, according to a report.

Property from a vehicle break-in at Foster's Creek was located and the suspects were identified by the original witness.

Baldwin and Pedersen were each arrested on two counts of attempted vehicle burglary and one count of vehicle burglary, and taken to the Manatee County jail. Pedersen also faces several criminal traffic charges, according to the sheriff's office.

The incidents happened in the 4200 block of 70th Street Circle East and 4800 block of 70th Street East.
