PARRISH -- The public is invited to join the Parrish Pride & Preservation Task Force in a community cleanup 10 a.m.-noon Saturday, Oct. 25.

The group will meet at the Florida Railroad Museum, 12210 83rd St., E., and collect trash from the railroads tracks south along U.S. 301 N. to State Road 675.

Gulf Coast Cycle Fest coming to Lakewood Ranch

LAKEWOOD RANCH -- The 2014 Gulf Coast Cycle Fest is set for 1-4 p.m. Nov. 1 on Lakewood Ranch Main Street.

This is Sarasota-Manatee Bicycle Club's 40th anniversary. The club anticipates record participation.

There will be 100-mile, 65-mile, 35-mile and 22-mile rides.

Registration can be done on line, or before the event on Main Street Nov. 1.

Free hotcakes for heroes on Vetrans Day

MANATEE COUNTY -- Veterans and active military personnel have a hearty hotcakes breakfast coming their way free on Veterans Day. All Bob Evans restaurants will serve free all-you-can-eat hotcakes to veterans and active-duty military members who present a valid military ID Nov. 11.
