LAKEWOOD RANCH -- Taylor Morrison plans to enter Lakewood Ranch by building a 450-home community called Esplanade.
The new gated community will be built on 195 acres on the east side of Lakewood Ranch Boulevard between Center Ice Parkway and Malachite Drive, LWR Communities said.
“We see Lakewood Ranch as the perfect location for our newest endeavor,” Steve Kempton, president of Taylor Morrison’s Sarasota division, said in a statement.
Esplanade will feature Mediterranean-styled single-family homes and villas ranging in size from 1,400 square feet to 2,700 square feet, he said. Prices were not disclosed.
Planned community amenities include a fitness facility, billiards room, a formal event lawn, a dog park and walking trails. Construction is slated to start this summer, with sales expected to begin in the first quarter of 2012.
Esplanade is part of a larger development phase of Lakewood Ranch called Northwest Sector.
It is approved for a total of 4,422 homes, 200,000 square feet of commercial space and 105,000 square feet of office space on 1,519 acres bordered by Lorraine and Pope roads and future extensions of Center Ice Parkway and Malachite Drive.
Taylor Morrison is the U.S. division of Taylor Wimpey PLC, a British homebuilder.
