A man found unconscious in a swimming pool in West Bradenton on Monday morning was pronounced dead, according to the Bradenton Police Department.

Anthony Simmons was found by his wife unresponsive in the pool at their home in the 3200 block of 67th Street West.

His cousin, Richard Session, said he had back surgery two months ago and was using a wheelchair provided by Veterans Affairs.

Session said his cousin swam in his pool “all the time” for rehabilitation purposes.
