A 60-year-old Englewood woman was killed trying to cross the street at 10:32 p.m. Friday in Englewood, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Kathleen Stringham was walking north on the east sidewalk of State Road 776 when she left the sidewalk to cross the road south of East Perry Lane . There was no crosswalk at the location, according to the FHP report.
The woman walked into the path of a 2012 Ford F-350 northbound in the right lane of S.R. 776 and the truck driven by a 48-year-old Englewood man struck the woman, according to FHP.
The pedestrian was pronounced dead on scene, according to FHP, which reported it is unknown whether alcohol was a factor. Alcohol was not a factor for the driver, FHP reported and no charges were filed.
