The Pirates have recalled right-handed pitcher Tyler Glasnow, a former Bradenton Marauder, from Triple-A Indianapolis to start Saturday afternoon’s game against the Phillies at PNC Park.
To make room for Glasnow on the active roster, the Pirates optioned right-handed pitcher A.J. Schugel to Indianapolis.
In addition, catcher Eric Fryer has been placed on the paternity list. His wife, Allison, gave birth to twins Saturday (daughter, Abigail at 10:37 a.m. and son, Hayden at 10:47 a.m.).
Catcher Elias Diaz has been recalled from Indianapolis and will wear uniform No. 32. Diaz, who underwent arthroscopic surgery on his right elbow May 3, hit .341 (14 for 41) in 12 minor league games this season with High-A Bradenton (rehab), Double-A Altoona (rehab) and Triple-A Indianapolis.
