A 19-year-old Bradenton man was ticketed after running a red light and causing an accident and two injuries at 12:30 p.m. Thursday, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Rodolfo Alvarez Pastoro was driving a 2004 Chrysler Towncar westbound on 63rd Avenue East approaching Ninth Street East while a 2010 Chevrolet bus was southbound on Ninth Street East approaching 63rd Avenue East.
FHP reported Pastoro did not realize the light was red until it was too late and he was crossing the intersection. A witness traveling behind the bus verified it had a green light when it struck the right side of the Chrysler.
Both drivers sustained minor injuries that did not require hospitalization. Alcohol is not suspected as a factor in the accident, FHP reported.
Pastoro was charged with failing to stop at a red light and driving on an expired license.
