Man dies in crash on Interstate 75 in Sarasota

A 65-year-old Tampa man died after driving a pickup truck into the guardrail on Interstate 75 near Clark Road in Sarasota, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

At 11:49 a.m. Friday, FHP troopers were called to a single-vehicle crash on I-75 at mile marker 205.

Joseph A. Sepion, driving a white 2007 Toyota Tundra, had struck the guard rail, according to Trooper Kenn Watson. The driver was initially unconscious but breathing, he said.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene at 12:50 p.m., Watson said. His identity was released after investigators notified next of kin.

The initial cause of the crash is unknown, Watson said.
