Authorities recover body of missing teen near Sunshine Skyway

According to police, Brandon Sun and some friends went to the Skyway Bridge area to hang out at 11p.m. Monday. Friends said Sun, who lives in Tampa, was using drugs and walked away from the group at 3 a.m. Tuesday. They were unable to locate him.

St. Petersburg police have confirmed the body of a missing 16-year-old boy has been recovered near the Sunshine Skyway Bridge fishing pier.

Via Twitter, St Petesburg police made the announcement they had found a body just after 1 p.m. Wednesday. Moments later, in a followup tweet, they confirmed it was the missing teen.

Sun’s mother contacted Tampa police at 6 p.m. Tuesday. After interviewing the friends and searching the area without success, Tampa police contacted St. Petersburg police.
