LAKEWOOD RANCH -- John Freeman was named Thursday to the Lakewood Ranch Community Development District 4 Board of Supervisors.
Freeman, 47, is an associate vice president-financial adviser for Raymond James & Associates, Lakewood Ranch. He also worked with Morgan Stanley Smith Barney, Sarasota; Archer Daniels Midland, Decatur, Ill.; and with IBM at Armonk, N.Y. Freeman is a doctoral candidate and adjunct professor at the University of South Florida, Sarasota-Manatee, where he teaches environmental science and policy, according to his resume. "I'm just very excited to serve and use my professional and community service experience on behalf of residents of Lakewood Ranch," Freeman said.
The seat was vacated by Stacy White when her family moved outside the CDD district.
"I am really looking forward to working with Mr. Freeman," said Eva Rey, executive director for the Lakewood Ranch Inter-District Authority, Lakewood Ranch Town Hall. "He has a lot of passion for his community, and the energy to put that passion to work for the residents of District 4."
"I believe he will be a wonderful addition to the board," she added.
Board members interviewed Freeman and Peter DeAngelis, 78, a retiree and former vice president for Arcade Insurance Agency of Akron, Ohio. Freeman was named during a public meeting at Lakewood Ranch Town Hall. Freeman described himself as "very active with parks," someone who loves community events, and one who would promote Lakewood Ranch for those of all ages.
