Manatee County Animal Services offers free puppies, dogs to military members, veterans

MANATEE -- Manatee County Animal Services is offering special animal adoptions deals to veterans and active-duty military throughout the summer in honor of Memorial Day and Labor Day.

The Manatee Pets for Vets special will allow past and present military members to adopt dogs and puppies for free from Memorial Day on May 25 through Labor Day on Sept. 7, according to a release.

“This adoption special is a small way for us to give back to those who have served the United States,” said Bill Hutchison, Manatee County Animal Services Director. “For so many people, including myself, owning a pet is one of the most rewarding experiences imaginable. They’re great stress and anxiety relievers and they’re incredibly uplifting friends.”

Those taking advantage of the deal will still have to pay the $15 for the county's license fee.
