Shining Moment: Palmetto resident Carol Rauen, one of two Outstanding Graduate Award Recipients from the Class of 2015, started her acceptance speech by recognizing Angel Kelly. another baccaluaureate graduate who was finalist for the award. "Angel was just as deserving of this award as I was," Rauen said. "I am proud to be counted among such other high calibre graduates on stage with me." Kelly, a staff assistant in the SCF library, is a Bradenton single mom who has persevered to earn her Associate in Arts and Bachelor of Applied Science in Homeland Security degrees at SCF.

Best quote: "As the area's first institute of higher learning, we have been privileged to graduate 44,000 student in our 58 years of existence."

Interesting sight: Megan Orlando, who earned an Associate in Science and Biotechnology degree, attached a small plastic replica of a DNA stand on her cap. One cap worn by a dental hygeine graduate had artwork of a tooth and the saying, "Holy Molar! I did it."
