Celebration of life for Manatee woman who died of heroin overdose to be held this Sunday

BRADENTON -- Frankie Amato said she knew her daughter had a drug problem, but she didn't know how severe it was.

Laura Karrin Hall, 21, died March 5 of a heroin overdose. The 2012 graduate of Manatee School of the Arts was found dead in Carriage Court Motel in Palmetto. It was her third overdose in the past week.

Since her daughter's death, Amato, who co-owns Paul's Pizza by the Foot in Palmetto with husband, Paul Amato, said she hasn't been able to sleep. "I think all night long," the 50-year-old said from her home Wednesday. "I think all day long about, 'What if I did this? Should I have done this? Could I have done this better?' "

A celebration of Hall's life will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at St. George's Episcopal Church, 912 63rd Ave. W., Bradenton. The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the Ave Maria Preparatory School in Myakka City in Hall's memory.
