BRADENTON -- A fiber optic cable problem in downtown Bradenton caused an unknown number of Bright House Networks' customers to miss the AFC championship game between the New England Patriots and Indianapolis Colts Sunday night.
"I never got to see it," said Dan Edwards, a Patriots fan who tried to catch the game at McCabe's Irish Pub on Old Main Street -- but the bar TV was black.
"All the TVs are out and I can't run credit cards," said McCabe bartender Detra Paloski. "We should get credit on our bill. We lost a lot of business."
The Old Main Pub, across the street from McCabe's, had the game on Direct TV, but couldn't process customer credit cards because its Internet service with Bright House was down, said bartender Joe Fears.
A Bright House employee said the problem was caused by damage to fiber optics. It was projected to be repaires by 11:30 p.m. Sunday.
