BRADENTON BEACH -- Several city officials gathered Wednesday morning to walk through of the historic Bridge Street Pier, which has been under reconstruction since last summer.
Among those in attendance: Bradenton Beach Mayor William Shearon, Vice Mayor Jack Clarke, Commissioner Jan Vosburgh and former Mayor John Shaughnessy. Representatives with the pier contractor, Sarasota-based Duncan Seawall, Dock and Boat Lift LLC, were also present.
"To me it was breathtaking," Shearon said. "Everything just came together and it's just beautiful."
According to Shearon, the $2 million project is under budget.
The soft public opening will take place at 10 a.m. Jan 23.
"It's been a joint effort and something that we're all very proud of," Shearon said.
