Flight to the North Pole set Saturday
BRADENTON -- A car and motorcycle show to benefit the Flight to the North Pole event is set for 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday at the Manatee County Sheriff's Office campus, 600 301 Blvd. W.
Admission is free. Refreshments and food will be available for purchase.
Vehicle owners can register for $10 prior to Saturday or $15 day of the show.
Proceeds benefit the Flight to the North Pole, a 29-year tradition, where terminally ill children and their families are invited to a day filled with gifts, a visit by Santa, clowns, crafts, animal displays, pony rides, a children's chorus and lunch.
'Concert in the Park' set Nov. 15 at McKechnie Field
BRADENTON -- The Pittsburgh Pirates and Bradenton Marauders will present "Concert in the Park" at 5 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 15, at McKechnie Field, 1611 Ninth St. W., Bradenton.
Orchestras from Braden River, Lakewood Ranch, Manatee, Palmetto and Southeast high schools will participate with middle-school orchestras from Braden River, Buffalo Creek, Haile, King, Lee and Nolan.
Tickets are $10 per family at the gate or in advance from schools. Proceeds benefit the Manatee County school orchestra programs.

Wounded Warriors to visit Mixon Nov. 8; help needed
MANATEE -- An estimated 60 Wounded Warriors with the Semper Fi organization will visit Mixon Fruit Farms, 2525 27th St E., Bradenton, for a tour and lunch at noon Nov. 8.
The public is invited to come wave flags and clap as these veterans of the Iraq and Afghanistan wars ride into the grove. Some may need help getting on and off the tram so strong volunteers are needed around 11:45 a.m.
