Harvest United Methodist Church donates 2.5 tons of food

MANATEE — Harvest United Methodist Church members and their neighbors collected 5,009 pounds — more than 2.5 tons — of food to donate to to All Faiths Food Bank and The Food Bank of Manatee.

“With God’s help, Harvest has a long history of fighting hunger in our region,” said Harvest co-Pastor Steve Price.

At worship services Oct. 9 and 12, people brought food to the front of the church as an act of worship.

Harvest’s fight against hunger and support of area food banks continues Nov. 22 with the 16th Annual Harvest Hustle 5K at Harvest in Lakewood Ranch. Proceeds from the Harvest Hustle 5K are donated to All Faiths Food Bank and The Food Bank of Manatee.
