Man injured in I-75 crash in Manatee

MANATEE -- A 45-year-old Rotonda West man was listed in serious condition after a four-vehicle crash on Interstate 75 at Mile Marker 229 Friday.

The accident occurred at 7:15 a.m., according to a Florida Highway Patrol report.

Four vehicles were traveling south in the inside lane of I-75, the report said. Three of the vehicles stopped for slower traffic ahead but the fourth, a 2007 Mitsubishi Eclipse driven by Franklin Joiner, 26, of Thonotosassa, failed to stop and ran into the back of the Rotonda West's victim's vehicle, which started a chain reaction with the other vehicles, according to the report.

Joiner was charged with careless driving, the report said.
