MANATEE — This year’s memorial service to honor the lives lost in the 9/11 terrorist attacks has been moved from Bradenton to Palmetto’s Sutton Park, 600 10th Ave. W.
The “Tribute to Heroes’ Memorial Service” will start at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday and is being hosted by the Manatee County Fire Chiefs Association.
There will not be a luncheon this year accompanying the memorial service.
The event was moved from Rossi Waterfront Park location to Palmetto due to the construction going on at the Riverwalk. Next year, the service will be moved back to Bradenton.
All Manatee County residents are invited to attend the memorial service, which will include guest speakers from different branches of military service, police and fire departments, and emergency medical services. The event lasts about an hour.
Also Tuesday:-- LWR Community Activities has a 9/11 Remembrance planned for 9 a.m. at MTI’s Lakewood Ranch Campus near Lakewood Ranch High School.
“LWR Remembers 9-11” will be the theme.
Public officials, local school children, neighbors and community leaders will gather to give thanks to those who risk their lives for public safety on a daily basis.

The engraving of the names of 9/11 victims and fallen military heroes has started, including all of the 74 Navy SEAL’s who have been killed to date in the war on terrorism.
