Weather alert: Rain likely in Bradenton on Wednesday; high surf on beaches is potentially dangerous

MANATEE -- Showers and thunderstorms are likely on Wednesday in Bradenton, according to the National Weather Service.

The National Weather Service was calling for a high temperature of near 88, and heat index values as high as 98. The chance of rain is 60 percent, mainly after 1 p.m.

Wednesday night, the chance of rain drops to 40 percent. The expected low is 79.

River flood warnings remain in effect for the Little Manatee River at Wimauma; the Manatee River at Myakka Head; and the Myakka River at Myakka River State Park. Also, high surf advisories remain in effect for local beaches because of Hurricane Isaac, and the Weather Service warned of possibly dangerous rip currents.
